Blood Pact Test Colours
I have painted a Blood Pact Mutie Trooper and an Armoured Car to test a colour layout.
I am somewhat colour blind so tend to have odd tastes in colours. Conversely, I am very sensitive to shading - I can see well in the dark.
I intend to focus on half tracks for my Blood Pact. Thhe armoured cars have the basic armour stats of a Chimera but can upgrade the multilaser to a lascannon for +10pts. The hull gun is a heavy stubber.
The hull and turret are from a 1:35 kit of a 1930s Russian armoured car and the tracks and gun are Airfix Robogear.
That looks like it was based on a Soviet BA-3/6 or 10 (which are all very similar). They did have the option of adding tracks to the twin rear wheels to provide extra traction in reality.
ReplyDeleteOne of the great advantages with SF gaming is that you get an unlimited choice of colours etc. - which I find can be a little overwhelming. Is the colour scheme intended to blend into the terrain or stand out? If the latter how's the armour compared to the opposition's weapons as it is making itself a tiny bit of a target!
The Blood Pact are fanatical chaos renegades. The colour reflects their allegiance and has no funtional purpose. Their armour is barely adequate but they just don't care.

I like! It feels very rickety and low-tech, very appropriate. I think the color scheme is probably more realistic to how red paint would weather over time than in my paint jobs, too - very nice!
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant! I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what to do for a halftrack for my Blood Pact. I like it very much because it fits one description of the N20 halftracks with "flamethrowers in their pulpits".
ReplyDeleteThe weathering on the paint is quite good, and looks simple enough to do. Is this a 1/35 or 1/48 scale kit? My only critique is that the tracks look small in comparison to the whole, but that is minor and it looks quite good.
I'm glad I've found this little community of Blood Pacters. Cheers guys.
The weathering is childishly simple, just diluted Leather colour paint splashed on and left to run into crevices. Red paint weather to a pinky-red colour - see any old red car that has been exposed to a decade of ultrviolet.
ReplyDeleteThe kits are 1:35. In theory, 1:48 is a closer match but 1:35 fits the exaggerated weapon bulkiness in 40K.
I will put up photos of the kit boxes later.
Thank you for the kind comments,
John
