Vanquisher
This is my Vanquisher model. I use it as my command tank, if I need one. It is a dedicated tank-hunter with V-cannon and lascannon. It only has a pintle-mounted stormbolter for defence.
The weathering is built up by multiple layers. I am a firm believer that tanks on campaign should be shown to be dirty. Real one are! Mig dried mud is used for the tracks. I stick it on with UHU. Because I use my models for wargaming, they have to be more robust that a display model.
It is well covered with 'bits'. A tank is home to the crew and there is not much room inside so they tend to strap things on outside.
Hope you like it.

Nice tank, my friend. I've not seen anybody use and Aquila that way on the turret, but I like it! I think it sets nicely there.
ReplyDeleteI like your work and this conversion. The weathering is very effective, though the clean red uniform looks somewhat out of place. I especially like the Aquila integrated as part of the radio comm set.
ReplyDeleteI'm just starting to think about painting my first tank and your layered weathering is an inspiration! It's brilliant that all those colors work together to make something that implies dust, dirt, old paint, wear and still manages to look cohesive and visually balanced. Now who is raising the bar? Sir, I believe that would be you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteYou have to forgive me the red coat. One is an Englishman!

John, love the red uniform and the rust effect on the armour. Good job. And the colouring of the Aquila on the antenna. May have to steal that one.
ReplyDeleteIn the last pic, the barrel looks 'droopy'? Is it in real life?
