Substitute Pink Horrors
I am slowly putting together a daemon army for 40K, which I fit in around working on my IG, Blood Pact, Ork, Chaos marines, and Vrak armies.
I am of course, as mad as a mad thing.
Anyway, I don't like metal models because of their weight, cost, storage problems, and my superglue allergy and I don't much like the Pink Horror models in particular. One of the other bloggers suggested looking at substitute models, notably Dryads.
So I did.
The Wabbit Daemon likes them as well.
John
PS I have it on reliable authority that they are purple - pink, purple, what's the difference. It all looks the same to me.
I'm with you on the pink/purple thing.
ReplyDeleteNice, I like them :)
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed purple-pink and they look great. Those dryads work perfectly for horrors, well done. Is this a fantasy army or a 40k army? Will we be seeing these beauties materialize in the trenches on Vraks?
ReplyDeleteI did the exact same thing! So funny but I made my Dryads into Bloodletters/Deamonettes. Just painted them all nurgle added some green stuff and bam! For my horrors though I bought Vampire Counts ghouls and attached smoke launchers to their backs.
ReplyDeleteThese really do look great.
ReplyDeleteDear trucker
ReplyDeleteYah, why should daemons all look the same. It makes no sense.

Dear Anon
ReplyDeleteI intend to make ghouls into plaguebearers!

Dear Rabid
ReplyDeleteI mostly play 40k but I put them on square bases so I have the option.
Oh yes, they will turn up in the trenches - ah ha ha ha haaaaa.....

Dear Cyborg
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty much straight out of the box. I shaved off leafy stuff and avoided owls, bats, skeletones etc (as an aside, you get lots of useful extras in the box). I bought a few resin stands and made the rest using Milliput. I painted them with gloss varnish to make them look 'liquid' and also the larva but left the solidified rock matt. I actually have 20 of the things. I have learnt with daemons that you have to mass them for best effects.
Warhammer Fantasy has lots of useful stuff in plastic.

Can you tell me how you painted them? I am looking for a quick table top standard. So far, I have seen decent results from a simple white primer then applying the new citadel red wash.
ReplyDeleteYour colour looks deeper than that though. Any help is great!
