Blood Pact Infantry
I picked up some Pig Iron Feral Militia who are just perfect for Chaos Blood Pact troops. They have a wonderful ragged look plus bizarre masks.
Pig Iron have just released special weapon militia models - oh joy.
They are also a good source of heads and weapons as seperate items.
I highly recommend them. You can find their address on the side bar of this page.
I am still experimenting with paint layering rather than drybrushing-inking. The technique fascinates me but I definitely need more practice.

i always layer as I just cant get to grips with the drybrushing technique, especially on vehicles Im finding.
ReplyDeleteLayering look that bit tidyer I find but it depends what look you're going for and its far more time consuming
I think layering gives a better look but it takes more skill and is slower.

Well done. I thought I was clever wanting to make these models into Adeptus Mechanicus troops, but they excel as Blood Pact. The masks do well as grotesks and the robes are nicely tattered.
ReplyDeleteAs for layering, I usually save that for high-detail areas like faces. I leave a bit more paint on my brush than most do when I drybrush, so I'm able to push paint around and blend a little and that's good enough for me.
Dear Rabid
ReplyDeleteYes, layering a whole army would take forever. I am still experimenting with finding a happy balance.

I find this simple combo works great with red
ReplyDeleteScab Red/Black 2:1(basecoat)
Scab Red/Blood Red 1:1(1st hightlight)
Blood Red (2nd Highlight)
Baal Red wash to tie the layers together
Dear Will
ReplyDeleteThanks! I had real trouble layering red. Being somewhat red-green colour blind does not help.
I will try your method for my next batch - watch this space.
