Isambard Kingdom Brunel
I came across this new (to me) wargame company selling post-apocolypse/steampunk miniatures and resin vehicles. One of the miniatures was a steampunk version of Isambard Kingdom Brunel - the greatest engineer since Imhotep said to Pharoh, "You know you wanted a really impressive headstone, sire. Well have a butchers at these plans."
Brunel was voted second greatest Briton of all time in a BBC national poll recently (Winston Churchill won).
Brunel University in West London is my dear old alma mater so I had to have this model.
You can find a link to Ramshackle on my sidebar. Well worth a visit.
Awesome tip on Ramshackle, I've never heard of them either. I love how each of their figs has a unique backstory, and don't get me started on those amazing mutant plants! I just wish they weren't overseas...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but I'm totally distracted by this mans name. Isambard Kingdom Brunel? I'm guessing I've never heard of him due to being educated in the US. Isambard? I think I'm pitching that name to my wife if the next baby is a boy... I'm thinking she'll like it better than Godzilla or Tiberius, but still not much.

ReplyDeleteI have bought some more of their stuff including mutant plants.
Did you see the spider tank?
John
Dear Geek
ReplyDeleteGoogle Brunel and see. He was the greatest engineer of the modern world.

Rules are free?
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting. I had missed that.

Great model John and they do Dirt bikes! how cool are they. I've been looking hi and lo for some decent scramble bikes, thanks for the linky.

Nice job - I love the steampunk look, definitely a fun model!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of the Ramshackle games models - all of my dealings with them have been awesome. I've been using the Scrambler bikes as the basis of my proxy Rough Riders, and they've been a joy to work with. The "Boring Machines" make fantastic Termites as well (proxy drop pods), and at amazingly reasonable costs. I'm in the U.S., and the four separate orders I've made from them so far have all arrived surprisingly quickly. Definitely worth checking out!
Dear Rich
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure.
John
Dear Mordian
ReplyDeleteI am pretty certain that I got the Ramshackle link via your blog.
John
Hi Mordian 7TH and thanks for the quick review of the scramblers, i'll have to check out your blog for pics.
