Grot Tanks
I was chatting to one of my ex colleagues at GW Kent today and he showed me the recent Forge World News on the GW site. It includes pics of upcoming Grot Tanks - apparently they were also previewed at the Paris Show. No prices yet but they look great. They remind me of early French tanks (late WWI & Interwar periods). I feel a conversion coming on. :)
Addition: I looked up 1/35 scale Renault FT-17 kits, on which this model appears to be based. They do exist but cost about £35 each in the UK., which is too much - one hundred quid for a squadron. But orky vehicles are very scratchbuildable, just saying.
I really want a few of these little tanks. I'll probably use them as stand-ins for Killa Kans or Zzzap! Guns.
ReplyDeletedear Chris
ReplyDeleteOccured to me that one could use Killa Kan rules and be Codex Legal.
I just love them, I'm even tempted to build a grot army!
ReplyDeleteI am soo tempted to buy the 3rd party Grot army heads and do a full on grot army too.
ReplyDeleteHave the Mega Dred as thier stompa.
These look awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo the grot army is spreading faster than I think it could be posible. my idea is to use killa kans and grot tanks with lotz n lotz of gretchins. I already have plans to do mine since getting from Forgeworld is a bit daunting to my wallet.
ReplyDeleteReally cool idea!! Now that I know they'll be making models at some point I'm going to start looking for conversion fodder. I won't be buying overpriced FW models though. As with all my orks I'll plunder the ideas and either scratch build my own home grown copy or find a cheap toy that I can convert. I do buy FW models for some of my other armies ... but it just feels wrong to buy FW for Orks. You guys in the UK though have it good ... you don't have to consider the crazy shipping cost ... and the dollar to pound conversion rate isn't a big deal for you. I really wish GW would do a US forgeworld shop where they could sell in US prices without the conversion issue. Yes we can get things at the bunkers, etc. but its difficult when the nearest battle bunker is 800 miles away ... and GW has stopped doing west coast gamesday events :( Anyway thanks for the post ... cool stuff!
ReplyDeleteHi John
ReplyDeletejust to say I don't know if model zone still have any lurking about but there was a 1/144 japanese Gundam model they did which had a similar triangular track arrangement Ill show it to you tomorrow when you come over Ive already used it as an orky vehicle with some of the left overs from the battlewagon kit
Dear Will & Coll
ReplyDeleteYeah, a grot army would be a blast.;

Dear Cheef
ReplyDeletei am very tempted to buy one.

Dear Worxon
ReplyDeleteA grot army along the lines you suggest is now a viable proposition. I am making a mecK army so plenty of grots are a viable option.

Dear Excess
ReplyDeleteYeah, the shipping cost is a killer. Monitor the £:$ ratio and strike when it is favourable. The £ oscillates from between 1.3 to 2.1$ so considerable savings can be made at the $ peak (i.e. 1.3).

Dear Shaun. I have one somewhere!
ReplyDeleteSee you tomorrow,
J.
