I have been busy working on my novel and editing and have had little time for painting or gaming. But I did finsh my plastic Seekers. I try to go for a largely monochrome look for my daemons, the idea being that they are not entirely 'real'.
Have you noticed how Dinosaurian are the steeds? No feathers though, two-legged, therapod dinosaurs should have feathers.
The bases are resin models of a ruined temple that I bought seperately.
Neat!
ReplyDeleteI like the sculpts on the new steeds, but I wish they had kept the rider pose similar to the older ones. The more bent knees give more of an impression of speed than the "riding a horse" legs that the current range has.
Dear Mike
ReplyDeleteThe new steeds are good. They have very dynamic poses. You have to trim the dfeet a bit to get them onto a resin model but otherwise they go together pretty well. The Riders are matches to the daemonette infantry models. They do look a bit like ancient (pre-stirrup) horsemen.

They look nice, and you did a stellar job of painting them. The only concern for me would be that people who don't see what you're going for might just think they are not finished.
ReplyDeleteI like the shading that you've achieved on the steed's underbellies - great work. The dynamism of the models is very well communicated.
ReplyDeleteLooking very nice. Great job on the monochrome, it looks cool.
ReplyDeleteDear Fett
ReplyDeleteThanks for you very kind comment.
I don't worry too much what other people think. I enjoy the sort of constructive criticism one gets from fellow bloggers (who paint themselves) but I am indifferent to the comments on forums like Cool Mini or Not.
best wishes
John
Dear Jabber. I was pleased with the reverse shading on the underside of that model, :)
