Model Zone In Administration
Another blood bath on the High Street as quarterly rents fall due. One of the casualties is Model Zone, my favourite model shop. I hope they can be rescued.
My initial reaction to this news is unrepeatable here. Let's just say I'm bitterly disappointed at this news, if not surprised. Outside of trade shows I buy nearly all my modelling supplies from Modelzone, especially paint. But in recent months the local branch has seemed to be on a clear run-down with fewer staff, more 'multibuy offers' to generate sales and lots of old stock pulled out and piled up on sale.
If this shop isn't resurrected I'm stuffed next time I get dragged round the Lakeside Shopping Centre. Its only my brief escape into Modelzone that keeps me sane on trips like these! Even if I don't need anything I'll make a dash for the shop to escape the endless round of clothes & shoe shops.
Dear Lee I know exactly you feel only it's Bluewater in my case. I have daughters (it's the lead in the models). I also get all my hobby supplies at Maidstone Model Zone. Bugger, bugger, bugger.
Awwww crap. They were brilliant. Comparatively.
ReplyDeleteYeah, got all my Vallejo paints there.
DeleteWas in the Bluewater one tonight!
ReplyDeleteI often browse there when my all female family are clothes shopping.
DeleteBoo, that's the only place I usually want to go into in Bluewater that isn't serving food :(
DeleteYah, Bluewater is not male friendly. GW, Model Zone and Waterstones is about it.
DeleteYour favourite model shop? My ONLY model shop!
ReplyDelete:O(
I know that feeling. I have a friend who works in the Southampton one. Sad times.
DeleteYeah, there are few model shops left.
DeleteWell, as far as mainstream modelling outlets are concerned, they really are the mealie bag redoubt...
ReplyDeleteSo to speak. :)
DeleteDamn I got a twenty quid voucher for Fathers' Day.
ReplyDeleteSpend it quick in case the administrators suspend them.
DeleteBugger as I use them a lot and actually the only model shop left in Leicester
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's a great shame. I bought two Corgi VBCW planes in 1/72 off them recently: a Demon and a Hart.
