The Start of Strategic Air Warfare
96 years ago today, the first strategic air attack occurred when Zepplins raided Gt Yarmouth in East Anglia.
I seem to be stuck on airships recently.

Somehow, the idea of bombing (and thus getting shot at) while riding a huge bag of combustible gas does not seem like my idea of fun. But Zeppelins are cool!

You need to go read HG Well: the War in the Air

On the subject I'd The First Blitz by Neil Hanson. Well detailed you can walk the raids, notably around Holborn and Liverpool Street (there is a pub in Holborn with a clock that stopped when the first bombs hit London). Great book, the ending is really interesting and not a well know bit of history (I'll say no more...)
