The Start of Strategic Air Warfare

96 years ago today, the first strategic air attack occurred when Zepplins raided Gt Yarmouth in East Anglia.

I seem to be stuck on airships recently.

  1. Somehow, the idea of bombing (and thus getting shot at) while riding a huge bag of combustible gas does not seem like my idea of fun. But Zeppelins are cool!

  3. Dear Dimitri
I believe that this came to be the view of the Kriegsmarine eventually,

  4. On the subject I'd The First Blitz by Neil Hanson. Well detailed you can walk the raids, notably around Holborn and Liverpool Street (there is a pub in Holborn with a clock that stopped when the first bombs hit London). Great book, the ending is really interesting and not a well know bit of history (I'll say no more...)
