Evil On The March
Finished my first unit of Mantic Undead: Skeleton men at arms.
These are really nice models and at a very competitive price compared to the Evil Empire. I bought a small army of fifty models for £30.
A free set of rules was included plus I downloaded a free army list off the internet, Mantic Games website, for my Nexus 7 tablet.
This word 'free' may confuse wargamers used to the Evil Empire. I recommend the Oxford English Dictionary for a full explanation but essentially it is something for which you do not pay, not even a little bit let alone a lot.
I used the 'Army Painter Dip' method to weather and varnish the models, except that I don't dip, I use a brush.
Acrylic paints except for the metalic 'red' (purple because of the undercoat), which was a Humbrol enamel (Sunset Red).

I can hear the "Hell March" from Command and Conquer Red Alert in my mind now. :)
ReplyDeleteOr the shade of Harryhausen.
DeleteExcellent looking undead, I have also bought some of their army sets at £20.00 each during their sales! They are waiting to be assembled but now you have posted these, thy might get some attention a bit earlier!
ReplyDeleteCheers
Mantic are superb value - and very nice models.
DeleteVery nice John ;)
DeleteLong may the death-knell of GW be slow and painful and full of false dawns, I told you so's and legions of competitors T-Shirts at conventions!

Nice figures BTW, I've always had a soft spot for skeleton armies, I think it must go back to Mr. Harryhausen?
Jason and the argonaughts: brilliant.
DeleteThey look very nice and effective
ReplyDeleteI am very sold on Mantic.
DeleteThey look really rather good. They'd definitely go on the list if I was considering a new WFB army, especially at those prices.
ReplyDeleteDear Ethics
DeleteYah, it's diffcult to dislike them.
