Scratch Built Orky Deff Dread
I need more Dredds for my Big Mek Dread Mob. I try to make each orky vehicle different because da Meks don't use production lines. This little beauty is scratch built from all sorts of odd bits. I have gone for an upright look to contrast with GW dreads.
I always give da dreads close combat weapons and a burna - useful for winkling grots out dere hidey holes.
Note da sensa pack on da top.
Rear view wiv da heat exchanga for blowing off spare gas. Spare gas build up in a dread is a real problem, especially if the pilot has been on da squigg beer.
Side pic showing power drive on da main cutta arm.
Against a GW dredd to show the scale.

That's a really nice dread - unique and very orky!
ReplyDeletegreat scratch build.
Cheers
Klaus
Nice job there John! A different style But definately Orky :-)
ReplyDeleteVery fresh, but still Orky. It's good to branch out and get away from standard approaches. We think of Ork tech as bulky, but there's no reason it has to be, and if Waaagh! energy keeps contraptions running, stands to reason the looser jalopies could hold together and maybe be better represented. I like it, and I'm interested in where the bitz came from too.
ReplyDeleteDear Klaus
ReplyDeleteThanks,

Thanks Paul
ReplyDeleteI tried to be different but wasn't sure I had pulled it off,
J
Dear Porky
ReplyDeleteIt is largely made from Airfix robowar bits, plus arms from steampunk suppliers and varios GW odds and ends including a drum.
J
Dear John!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, i mean very orky stuff! That leg belonged to a sentinel?
Dear Igi
ReplyDeleteNo the leg is from Airfix robogear. These kits are sold off very cheap as obsolete stock on eBay.
J
It would make a very nice alternative leg even for a dreadnought.
ReplyDeleteYah, robogear is very useful for conversions.
