A view over the main floor at Crystal Palace.
There were more displays and trade stands up on the mezzanine floor, but my overall subjective impression was that there were fewer stands and customers this year. Admittedly, two of the clubs had to cry off at the last moment due to illness and a van expiring on the magic roundabout but even so...
Very British Civil War continues to be popular.
If you look carefully, you can just see Mosley's Blackshirts charging across the town square to liberate the Town Hall on this superb battleboard.
John Treadaway, the new editor of Miniature Wargames.
John was running a very nice large scale 'Tomb of the Cybermen' participation game.
Morpheus Games in a prime spot under the concrete.
Morpheus were showing their Thunderbirds game. I managed to blag a Captain Kirk model from their upcoming project!
Infinity Engines stand.
This is a new company - to me - with wonderful steam punk/ Cthulhu models. The thing on six red legs is a Zero-Point Power Generator so beloved of Nazi conspiracy theorists.
Close Up.
I couldn't resist buying the steampunk UXB.
May the Force be with you.
Fantasy Flight Star Wars games continue to be popular.
Hysterical Games trade stand.
A great display of British Commandos attacking a German controlled port.
Secret Weapon.
A battleboard is improved considerably by a nice central piece like this V2. Isn't that so much better as an objective than a coin?
Dr Who.
And finally, the Warlord Games site were advertising their upcoming Dr Who game. The first miniatures were on sale and had sold out by lunchtime. This will be big chaps.
[Blatant advert warning: I wrote the rules.]
And that wraps up the stuff that caught my eye - well everything but my spoils.
Da Loot
This year I was strictly disciplined and left after my cash ran out. The rumour that my wife confiscated my credit cards is quite untrue: I gave them up voluntarily.
See y'all at Salute.

Broadsword Wargames Show - Kent
The quality of the display games at Broadsword was astonishingly high. US Marines attack in the Pacific under air cover provided by a P38 Lightning flying very, very low.
An Old Crow VTOL lands on a pad downtown in the colony slums.
On the Rainham Club stand the BUF assault the churchyard in a Very British Civil War.
But the Kent Miners Action Column is ready for them.
The Medway Club demonstrating 7TV II.

Broadside Wargame Show, Kent
Last weekend was the Broadsword Wargame Show in Sittingbourne which is run by the Milton Hundred Wargame Club.
You can find out about the Hundred of Milton, as it is usually called, but more properly Middleton, here.
Below are a few photos I took in the couple of hours I had before I had to rush home for the next round of house renovation: which is why my posts have been a bit erratic recently.
A touch of the jolly old Hornblowers here: the seascape really set off the display.
I've forgotten the name of this trader but he had some lovely Dark Age figs.
Ian 'Geronimo' who runs Fenris Games, a business local tome at Chatham Dockyard.
He has some great classical models that he imports. Apparently they are selling faster than he can get more. Take a look at that minotaur, perfect for some of the Osprey skirmish games.
Mi-Go and all things Lovecraftian.
Aeronefs!
A more traditional game from the chariot era.
Loved this Joker Fairground, the display was showing off the new Batman Game.
Show models are getting bigger. These looked to be around 1/32. Reminds me, I must finish my Berlin terrain and Tiger II.
My wife was very taken with these hand-crafted giant trees.
A closer look at the colonial warfare models.
The Gravesend chaps playing a great Border Reiver game. The hand out had me in stitches.
Finally one of the loopier games undertaken by the Medway Club.

Skirmish Toy Soldier Show, Sidcup
Popped up to South London for the Skirmish toy soldier show. This is a small show with kit and toy soldier dealers. However there were a few wargames there.
The Medway Wargames Club were up demoing Rivet Wars and something similar.
The Rainham club had a demo of a Virgina War scenario - tomahawks and all that.
A bit of the 'ole steampunk.
A Robin Hood rescues Maid Marion game in 54mm by the Skirmish People - who invented D20 dice.
And finally a game of Lion Rampart.

Cavalier 2015
Spent an enjoyable day out on Sunday at Cavalier 2015 in Tonbridge.
The photo shows the bring and buy room. Bring and buy seems to e on the way back after a high minimum postage rate rise in the UK has killed the market in cheap second hand items on eBay.
The show seemed rather quiet this year with fewer traders and display games - and noticably fewer visiters - or is that just my subjective impression? You will notice the average age of the people in the show was on the senile side. I wonder if the change in strategy at GW to dump the kids has started to impact through the hobby.
This Bolt Action winter '44 display stood out. A German unit attempts to protect a V2 launch site from commando attack.
Continuing the winter theme, I like the look of this Spy Who Skied scenario.
And to the other extreme there was a wonderfully colourful Vietnam game on show.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
And finally, a bad day in Dry Gulch.

Happy Easter
Happy Easter to all warmongers everywhere. And in celebration of the holiday I give you the Attack of the Chocolate Easter Bunnies.
The orkys don't stand a chance.
From a display at Salute '14.
