Banksy In California
Celebrated English street artist, Banksy is in Los Angeles to promote his film, and he has left some of his calling cards. I love this one. An English schoolboy from the 1950s - my era - carrying an MG42 loaded with crayons, about to blast a no parking sign.
Apparent, he put one on a CBS billboard so they sent a team around to dump it.
Duh! Do they know what a genuine Banksy is worth?
Do you have to be a moron to be in corporate management or does it just work out that way.
Any figure sculpters watching: please, please, sculpt it.

I love Banksy's work. He's the only contemporary artist who I 'get'. The rest are just pretentious [ insert expletive here ] in my humble opinion!
ReplyDeleteSecond on the "sculpt it." Cindy Dukino! Are you reading this?!!?
ReplyDeleteBanksy's work has always been good, morons I'm afraid.

ReplyDeleteOne of the funniest things he was responsible for was getting hold of the latest Paris Hilton album, and then inserting a copy of the cover which was exactly the same but for a few 'differences'. Apparently it was done with hundreds of copies, and there were copies in HMV Bristol for weeks before anyone noticed...

I think it's the duty of American television networks to stick their proverbial feet in their proverbial mouths, especially when dealng with troublesome Rest Of The World matters.
ReplyDeleteDash it all, Blogger censored out my fake HTML disclaimer! This blogger is entirely aware that his previous comment was a predictable cheap shot at the expense of a corporate body that is far from representative of American nationals, and can hopefully be slurred without too much implied criticism of said nationals. If nothing else, you're reading this, so you're obviously interested in the world beyond Maine and California...
ReplyDeleteDrive past his Mild Mild West picture at least once a week and it never fails to cheer me up...
ReplyDeleteDear Lee
ReplyDeleteAgree completely. Most YBAs silly. Bamnksy is clever,

Dear Steve
ReplyDeleteLucky fellow. I have never seen a Banksy in the flesh, so to speak.

ReplyDeleteWe should start a campaign

John,
ReplyDeleteIt's an attempt at a reference to Harold and the Purple Crayon, a series of children's books. The kid, the crayons, and the artistically created environment made me think of it.

It's not an MG42.
