City of London Police Force
From
City of London Police distributed this letter around London businesses. We have witnessed the leadership of the Yard disintegrate under questioning as to why they turned a blind eye to criminality in the Murdoch empire - now this.
Hostile Reconnaissance?? Domestic Terrorists/extremists??
Reality Check: we are talking about a handful of people exercising their right to demonstrate, not Che bloody Guevara.
Are our senior officers half-witted?

Dear Sir,
ReplyDeletethank you for your kind comments. Members of the Committee of State Security will be at your residence shortly to discuss your recommendations in greater detail. Please remove any and all carpets from your living room as they tend to stain badly.
Dimitri
P.S. Don't worry, it will get worse. Over here we apparently don't need things like elections, foreign policy or opposition parties anymore.
Dear Dimitri
ReplyDeleteIt astonishes me that Greece and Italy are now ruled by technocrats appointed by Brussels. Whatever happened to the idea of democratically elected representatives of the people?
Politics is not something that interests me much but one can't help but think of marching jackboots.
John
I appreciate that "eternal vigilance is the price of freedom" but sometimes I think our politicians and police don't understand the concept well enough to be trusted with its enforcement. The line between eternal vigilance and police state is thinner than most people realise.
ReplyDeleteThere are now multiple “firms” of capitalists in or near the City of London. As the worldwide capitalist movement shows no sign of abating, it is likely that capitalists aspire to identify other locations to loot, especially those they identify as vulnerable. City of London Police has received a number of hostile reconnaissance reports concerning individuals who would fit the capitalist profile.
ReplyDeleteAll are asked to be vigilant regarding suspected reconnaissance, particularly around pension funds. Any signs of interest or plan changes should also be reported. You may encounter an increase in persons filming for the purpose of distracting national or local media. All are reminded that any encounters with suspected capitalists could result in being fleeced.
Intelligence suggests that financial conquistadors are holding a discussion at Fleet Street. This may lead to an increase in urban exploitation activity of previously stable and prosperous neighborhoods in the capital.
Supsected hostile reconnaissance should be reported to City of London Police immediately.
The tone of this is quite disturbing. It clearly puts the 'activists' as "them" and the Police and everyone else as 'us'.
ReplyDeleteDo they not understand (aside from the application of the law to individuals, blindly and without prejudice)that the 'activists' are perhaps less of a threat to participatory democracy than the bankers ?
Dear Lee
ReplyDeleteThe state of public sector senior management is discouraging. We are swamped with Blair Zone puppets.
J
Dear Sons
ReplyDeleteLaugh out loud. A gem of prose.
And occupy protesters will never supplement seniour officers pension funds.
J
Dear Anon
ReplyDeleteParticipatory democracy seems to be a fading dream.
J
I was struck by the phrase "suspected activists."
ReplyDeleteHere in the states we have begun to appoint "emergency managers" over cities or school systems which are deeply in debt and running historic deficits. The elected officials are replaced with an appointed manager who has power to take drastic measures, including invalidating labor contracts.
250,000 empty properties in the UK, mostly intastate or other Will disputes, and they want to make squatting a criminal offence...during a period of major housing problems and a sortage of local authority housing?
ReplyDeleteCorrupt Police officer's secure in the knowlage a mate will destroy any evidence before trail, thereby negating the need for a trial...
The refusal to make the bankers pay - worldwide not just in the City.
Glad I can lose myself in the juvanilia of a toy soldier collection!!!
Dear Mike
ReplyDeleteCities, nothing. The EU is appointing technocrat managers to run whole countries. Democracy is suspended in Italy and Greece.
J
Dear Maverick
ReplyDeleteThink about it too deeply and you will go mad.
J
Democracy is suspended indeed. We got a "provisional" government with a mandate for elections on February 16th. Now, the date is much much more flexible. Maybe, in March, maybe in May, maybe in September. Maybe never... Who knows?
ReplyDeleteDimitri
Dear Dimitri
ReplyDeleteThe problem with allowing the people to vote is that you might vote for the wrong people. It's all for you own good, obviously.
John
That letter would by almost funny if it was not so disturbing.
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong here, but does FARC do anything outside south america? not of any interest to most London business unless you are trying to tie the kind of things they do together with the occupy movement. Rather unsubtle propaganda there.
Given that most of the country seem to agree with the broad goals of the occupy movement (which is a peaceful protest, not an armed group) it's amazing they have the cheak to send this out.
City of London Police Corruption Exposed in Court.
ReplyDeleteCOLP Counter Terrorism Directorate spent over £1,000,000 of tax payers money trying to censor my website -
www.policeexpenses.co.uk
DC Sarah Mayo C/Terrorism Officer said the website could damage the reputation of Mr xxxxxx ( a banker) and it is our duty to prosecute. The website does not name Mr xxxx, however it does expose corruption at very Snr levels within COLP, this was backed up in court with documents that proved officers authorised £1m Op Bohan after Sussex Police refused to get involved stating it was a civil matter.
Chris Plumley Chan4 Dispatches is making a documentary into this case, which has since been debated in Parliament.
