You may recall that I queried how GW were going to sell any copies of Kampfgruppe Normandy for fifty sovs after unlaoding them at Salute for eighteen quid.
Well, here's the answer.
Got to the Warhammer Historical site and you get:
Warhammer Historical Has Now Closed
We can no longer accept any further orders for our productsWe would like to thank our customers who have purchased our publications over the years and hope you will continue to get many more years of gaming enjoyment from them.
or to put it another way:
"We thank our loyal customers and writers who can now take a flying leap for all we care..."
What's annoying is that they won't pass copies of the books back to the writers or sell them off at bargain prices to their loyal customers: they'll pulp them.
Kinda felt that way about there specialist games range
ReplyDeleteThat is too bad, I have enjoyed the few books I have from them, and was looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteI think this was a long time coming- that's why I got a few of the books I didn't have that I was interested in, several months ago when they had their deep discount sale. Would be nice if they would at least sell what is left: charge shipping, cut rate on the books, got to be worth more money than churning them to pulp. sheesh.
ReplyDeleteBah!
ReplyDeletePulping them is just stupid. I reckon many gamers would still buy copies of the rules if only for their 'nostalgia' value.
ReplyDeleteDear Brummie
ReplyDeleteYep, I agree. How often do you see them played?
J
Dear Lasgun,
ReplyDeleteI know. I am just glad a got a copy of KGN,
J
Dear Ferret
ReplyDeleteLogic often seems to have little to do with GW strategy,
J
Dear Mik
ReplyDeleteIndeed!
J
Dear Lee
ReplyDeleteWell, pulping is just my suggestion but you notice they aren't having a closing down sale and it does fit GW's business style.
I suppose it is just possible that they will pop up in remaindered bookshops.
J
I wish they'd use the annual price increase money to keep some of their niche stuff open and actually producing product.
