Question Time

It come to something when a mere TV presenter has to speak for the British people because our politicians are too inarticulate, too cowardly, or perhaps too corrupt.

  4. Dear Ray
The ruling class are increasingly divorced from the rest of us - or reality.

I hope the yanks prosecute because our lot won't. Apparently one of the hedge fund managers cited in New York gave the Conservative Party £2m, I think it unlikely that he will have a problem with our authorities.

  9. Ach! It's just all too bloody corrupt!

On Radio 4 the other day someone noted how a decade ago there was public outrage at the boss of British Gas awarding himself a £400,000 bonus or somesuch, and now figures ten times that amount are pretty much the norm!

Can you even imagine how crazy it'd be if anyone/everyone could set their own salary?! It's all just bafflingly stupid.

    Gah!

It was a devastating speech, of the sort politicos can't do anymore.

Yah, if scientist salaries were set by little cliques of scientists I would be driving a Ferrari instead of a second hand Ford.

  12. Well said but don't count on us Yanks to prosecute. Bankers here played the same games, self inflated market bubbles while profiting from their behavior, blew up our economy, got bailed out, aren't loaning out money and generally seemed annoyed, if not insulted, that they're evening being questioned about their past and present behavior. Fortunately they donate to all the right campaigns and use their Super PACs to further manipulate our political parties and candidates. Don't count on us for accountability.
