The Most Difficult Job In The World: GW customer experience reimaginer

Games Workshop is looking for a Customer Experience manager:

' to completely re-imagine what it is like for people coming into our stores, engaging with and buying our wonderful miniatures'

So if you're bored with the easy stuff like climbing Everest, inventing a faster-than-light drive or being the PR director for a bank then try something really challenging.

  1. I thought teaching was tough! Best of luck to whoever gets this.

    1. Teaching is tough but compared to this...and you get a pension

  2. Interesting. Probably pays about £20,000 a year too!

  3. That's an easy one sack all the bosses and put gamers in charge again. Like the good old days. With people who liked and played games and not lawyers and accountants making the decisions. At the moment it is like they have binned the Architect and got a Quantity Surveyor in charge..... just my 2cp

  4. And re-hire all the staff sacked from the 1-man stores and have them paint stuff and teach games again.

    1. I expect the re-imaginer will be re-imagining on a zero budget.

  5. Wow. Is it wrong to say I now envy people with a terminal disease to that poor schmuck?

  6. "It should be obvious that this role will require a huge amount of travelling on your own"
This line made me laugh. Read as "huge travel expenses that we arent paying for"

    1. Really ?!?! (sorry, can't be arsed to read the ad).
      That's not good.
      Even if they also offer:
      Non Contributory final salary pension
      Free BUPA
      38 days paid holiday
      24hr working week
Profit related bonus equal to the MD's bonus
Company car in the £50K bracket
      and
      A nice hat.
      That's still bad.

    2. Rubbish Spanky, the winning candidate will get a company skateboard.

    3. Not even the hat clinches it then?

    4. Yes, but the skateboard will be made with Finecast...
I'm almost tempted to apply and blog the whole process. Could make for some good comedy.

    5. Finecast skateboard: excellent.

  7. i think i'd stand a chance mining moon rock bare handed without a space suit on...they sure don't want to fill out this job do they...all i can say is good luck finding someone who would want to work under set conditions...in other words they want the person who gets this to do everything and then the idea's and their hard work is their property, with minimal support, i do not envy the poor sod

    1. It is a very strange appointment. Looks suspiciously like tick-boxing to appease the shareholders.

  8. hahaha! What a job. I hope whoever gets it actually gets the ear of the CEO, and has the insight to tell said CEO what is so wrong today.
I wish him or her all the luck, because it wouldn't be to bad with a GW I would acually like, and would like to give some of my money.
Do I think that will happen... not really unfortunately.
Said CEO will probably not listen...

    1. You tell a CEO what he wants to hear otherwise - termination.

  9. It must be an easy job as they have no customers so re-imagining must be easy and fun.

  10. Sadly, I can't help but conclude that a company that feels a post like this is what's needed really doesn't understand customer relations at all :-(
