Welcome to my strange alternative world of wargaming with toy soldiers: a game for boys from twelve years of age to one hundred and fifty and for that more intelligent sort of girl who likes boys' games and books (HG Wells, Little wars)
I thought that was at the Imperial War Museum in London - or did they move it?
ReplyDeleteDuxford is now part of the Imperial War Museum.
DeleteSo they moved it from the foyer where it used to be near that V2 rocket?
DeleteYes, I guess so.
DeleteNice piece of history - the tank sure had a tall profile - possibly allowing Monty to stand up in it? :)
ReplyDeleteHe liked to be seen. :)
ReplyDeleteHis first big problem was restoring the morale of the 8th army, particularly the armour after a series of crashingloop defeats. Hence the showmanship and the association with armoured refinement.
I was standing in front of this myself only yesterday. Good to see the tank back on display in its new home at Duxford.
ReplyDeleteDuxford is turning into one heck of a Museum.
DeleteVery nice item and part of history. cheers
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure.
