Imperial Armour 8
Imperial Armour Eight is on preorder at Forge World for £45. I will probably buy it to look at the excellent pics, and for the specs & scenarios. If it is true to past form then the story will be pretty turgid. I keep resolving not to buy any more of these but, inevitably, I do. Sad, really. :)

Of all the books they've got, this is one of the more tempting ones for me, as a large percentage of it focuses on armies that I'm interested in.
ReplyDeleteIt sure seems a bit spendy, though. I may have to put it on my birthday list or something.
Dear Chris
ReplyDeleteI have reviewed the Vraks volumes a while back (Imperial Armour tabs). I would expect this one to be similar. Great pics, useful army lists, scenarios and new stats and poor writing.

John,
ReplyDeleteI ordered it as soon as I saw "art by Paul Bonner" - I just love his Rogue Trader works so I had to order it.
When it arrives I'll do a write up of it and my thoughts on the content. I'm most interested in the updated Elysian rules as I'm putting together a Kill Team of them, so I hope they're still viable.
Dear Gott
ReplyDeleteYeah, one has to admit that, when it comes to graphics, Forge World have few peers,
John
It's a shame though that they seem to have even fewer proof readers!
ReplyDeleteI love the FW volumes I have, but the inconsistencies and errors can be very frustrating. As can their general prose style.
All academic though, as I haven't the dough!
Dear Drax
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the prose, shudder.

I am thinking about getting this one too. I built up an Elysian drop troop army using the One page white dwarf list years ago and might have to break them out of storage to use with the new book.
ReplyDeleteDear ColK
ReplyDeleteI have a light infantry regiment. My father was in the Duke of Cornwalls and the Shropshires. It would easily work as an Elysian-type.
I guess I am going to buy but, please God, they have used English.

Art by Paul Bonner? Incredible, I wonder what he has been doing all these years!
ReplyDeleteI will be interested to see how they combine the light-hearted nature of orcs (who despite being toned down, are surely the last true comedians of 40k) with the mock-seriousness of the IA books. I imagine those incredibly detailed pictures they have with 'wuzdacka is a wuss' written on the side, along with the exact length of the 'chinork''s drive belt.
