Medway Multiple Crash

There was a bad accident this morning on the new Sheppey Bridge. It seems to have started at the base of the bridge in the early morning sea mist.

The bridge is a high hump to allow yachts to sail underneath, replacing the old lift structure. Cars coming over the hump at speed crashed into the wreckage for a good ten minutes. Maybe 100 vehicles involved and many injuries, some serious.

  1. I tried phoning you this morning, to see if you were in that or not. I'm guessing that unless posting this was your last determined mortal act, that I don't need to prepare a eulogy just yet.

    Which is a good thing.

  2. Most of the people I know on the island have emailed me confirming they are safe.

    1. It's incredible there were no deaths. It shows how car safety has improved.

    1. It was only stopped when a quick thinking lorry driver travelling the other way used his vehicle to block the roundabout giving access to the bridge.
