Dr Who 2011

The new Dr Who series for 2011 starts tomorrow. I will have to watch it later in the week as I am taking my wife out to dinner.

The Tardis has come a long way, baby.

Elisabeth Sladen has died from cancer at the age of 1963. She starred with Tom Baker in the Glory Days of the old Dr Who in the seventies and starred in a spin-off children's series in the 21st C.

Nicholas Courtney, who played Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, British Commander of Unit, died in February. He also appeared in The Avengers and Randall & Hopkirk deceased.

An entire generation of actors from my childhood are passing.

  1. I much prefer the older Dr Who episodes. The BBC dvd's are fully loaded with all kinds of commentary and extras. The new Who is too slick and computerized for this child of the 70s and 80s.

  2. I like the old and new both. I grew up with the old, but I can see the merits of the new... and it's better than no Dr. Who at all!

By the way, I don't think Ms. Sladen looked a day over 1950. A lovely lady who will be missed!

  3. Dear John!

I think you are a true gentleman, putting your wife before the show... Kudos!

Actually i have to ask my uncle Bob Torrentoviks to send me a copy of the new season, because i only have Bcc entertaiment and Bcc something (that doesn't show Dr. Who). And the hungarian dubbing is awfoul. Not to mention they bogged down around the 3rd season.

  4. God Bless Sarah Jane Smith - RIP

  5. Dear Anon
I tend to like the old and the new for different reasons. I have to confess that nostalgia comes into it.

  6. Dear Igi
I know where my bread is buttered.
