In The Navy
This is an amusing graphic. HMS Queen Elizabeth in the Thames. In real life they might have one hell of a job getting it under Tower Bridge.

Welcome to my strange alternative world of wargaming with toy soldiers: a game for boys from twelve years of age to one hundred and fifty and for that more intelligent sort of girl who likes boys' games and books (HG Wells, Little wars)
Nice one, John; if those [that] ships ever touch the waves, I will backstroke past the Houses of Parliament... :D
ReplyDeleteDear Monty
DeleteThey may sail after we've sold them to India at a cut price.
John, please make a note of this in your diary - HMS QE is due for sea trials in 2017...
ReplyDeleteSee you outside the Houses of Parliament Monty.
Dear Oink
DeleteBut what on earth we're going to do with them...
Well I have to say I'm stunned. I had got the feeling Britain had just about mothballed the entire MOD... maybe they are fearing another attack on the Falklands?
ReplyDeleteIt's a hangover from the Blair years. He ordered a high tech fleet to fight colonial wars. The escorts for these carriers are the most sophisticated in the world currently. The liberal-conservative government has cancelled as much as possible but outstanding contracts have to be completed.
Delete'Liberal-Conservative government'
DeleteYou could weaponize that phrase-it would make the heads of about 20% of Americans explode.
LOL. I know.
DeleteI am always puzzled why Americans imagine liberals and socialists to be identical. :)
Because we lack the education to understand the difference. Throw in religious dogma that clouds the rest of the mind and the there you have it--the ugly AND stupid American. I am ashamed of it when I read really interesting and great blogs by non-Americans.
ReplyDeleteI got here as a result of reading about Hammer's Slammers BTW. I just ordered "The Crucible" from Caliver Books. I look forward to it.
