It's the Winter Solstice today folks.
From tomorrow the sun starts to come back to us here on the roof of the world.
Woop, woop.

Welcome to my strange alternative world of wargaming with toy soldiers: a game for boys from twelve years of age to one hundred and fifty and for that more intelligent sort of girl who likes boys' games and books (HG Wells, Little wars)
Yippee
ReplyDeleteOnly those who live in the north know how dispiriting the gloom gets.
DeleteAxial tilt and temperature lag mean that the cold is yet to come... Now watching the country file Christmas weather forecast. Looks like rain. Q'uel surprise.
ReplyDeleteCold I don't mind - just give me light.
DeleteMy ancestors rowed around the North Sea in open boats.
DeleteHappy Solstice
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt
DeleteMerry Christmas, too!
ReplyDeleteAnd you too, Monty.
DeleteFor me it's the first time in a loooong time that December is the Winter solstice - bring back the sun please!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're in a strange and distant land, Paul?
DeleteIndeed I am John - relocated the Rhode Island USA until the end of next year. Dec would usually be my Summer solstice at home!
DeleteI'm sure Rhode Island is nice.
DeleteRight on! Being a good 'ol Texan, I definitely don't understand it. But I do like to see the sun shine through magical portals once in a while and I definitely never complain about the return of 'normal' weather around here (above 90 F- 7 months of the year!!!).
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas everyone!
It's the light you really miss here. London is warmer than New York in winter but we have no light.
