Imperial Knight Changes Size

"Imperial Knight
Fealty, Honour and Duty.

At 8 inches tall the Imperial Knight is a towering war engine. Crafted in the Dark Age of Technology and resplendent with gothic details it presents a unique silhouette both in a display cabinet and on the battlefield. Fighting alongside armies of the Imperium, most Imperial Knights are part of a Knightly House. They are affiliated with either the Imperium or the Adeptus Mechanicus. Some Imperial Knights choose to forsake all ties to a noble house. Known as Freeblades, they are masters of their own destiny."

When I ordered my Imperial Knight I am pretty sure it was 8 inches high. Thee copied blurb on the BOLS site appears to confirm my memory. However, if you check the GW site it has apparently shrunk to 6 inches. 25% is not a small difference. Remember the linear/square/cube law: the volume difference is as the cube of the linear difference.

If my memory is correct then this is a poor state of affairs GW. It is sloppy and unprofessional.

I am going to let my order run because it is with a flgs and the cock up (assuming it's not my faulty memory and a BOLS report being coincidentally wrong) is hardly their fault.

  1. Well that's a bit odd! At 8 inches the Knight would have been unbelievable, but at 6 it's still going to be pretty imposing.

I'm popping in to my local GW later so I'll ask for some clarification.

    2. The store manager didn't know. He thought that it was 8 inches as well. It's good to know that they let all their staff know about the foul up!

  2. Sounds like you need a 2" thick resin base...

  3. That's the trouble with addiction...the pusher cuts the product with all sorts of shite...or reduces the quantity by drilling his weights!

  4. Awesome job GW. Funny as I ordered one of those Dreamforge Leviathans that were on sale for 75 dollars plus shipping and they are 8.5 inches plus flexible. Doubt I will ever actually use it for 40K but I had been wanting one for a while.

    1. Yeah, you don't see them so often in the UK.

  5. I saw 8 inch all over the net. I thought (but cannot be 100% sure) I even saw that number on the GW site.
I would still take a DreamForge Leviathan over the GW POS model any day. Just the constant finding of warped sprues in the GW boxes is enough to never get me to buy from them again.

    1. Why is Forge World always warped? No other resin models are.

  6. Oh it isn't just FW. When I bought a pair of Defilers they both had identical cracked leg pieces. And so did the 2 GW sent me to replace the first ones!
I cannot tell you* how many warped rhinos and land raiders I have had to deal with in the past. Nothing like a twisted shell to make a model look like crap.

(*mostly cause I have pushed it out of my mind)
