New Garden Bridge for London

Could happen, no less than Joanna Lumley is backing it.

Welcome to my strange alternative world of wargaming with toy soldiers: a game for boys from twelve years of age to one hundred and fifty and for that more intelligent sort of girl who likes boys' games and books (HG Wells, Little wars)
I've heard about this but this is the first picture I've seen of it. Interesting! I had lunch on HQS Wellington (just behind it) before Christmas. It's going to spoil their view a bit (HQ of the Worshipful Company of Master Mariners).
ReplyDeleteIt does look quite interesting. I'm all for greening London.
DeleteAnd they need to be careful about the rooting aspects of the things they choose to plant (so as not to over stress the civil engineering), as well as ruthlessly culling out of spec volunteer species and random stuff planted by the public.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, there is an engineering solution to every problem, although I'm not entirely sure what problem they are trying to solve here...
What do you bet it doesn't occcur to anyone to ask a horticulturlist...
DeleteInteresting concept - there seems to be a growing trend of wanting to put 'gardens' on top of buildings, and now bridges now, it seems. Where will it end?
ReplyDeleteI quite like the idea though, bringing some much needed greenery and 'life' to the concrete jungle...
English cities tend to be very 'green'. London from the air is quite a revelation.
