Around 1m Indians served overseas in WWI, around 130,000 on the Western Front - around 9,000 died.

Thanks for posting this. It's always good to remember those that aren't always foremost in the common view of history. I didn't realise so many served on the western front...
ReplyDeleteI knew many Chinese served as builders but the sheer number of Indian troops surprised me as well.
DeleteGot me thinking about how does that compare to the Indian contribution in WWII I wonder.
