Titan Build No1 - The feet and legs

After two days hard work I have assembled the basic feet and leg structures.

They are not finished, of dear me know. I have only added the feet, knee and thigh pistons. There are still the ankle and hip pistons to go.

  1. Looking good mate, how long do you reckon it'll take to put together?

  2. I admit that I have never built one of these beast before from FW. All of my titans are older Armorcast ones, so much easier on the build part. Still once you get the legs down, I've been told that usually is that hardest part when it comes to FW Warhounds....so keep at it and good luck....your almost there! ;)

  4. Dear Guys

It's going to be weeks before this baby is ready to rock and roll. The longest part will be painting the interior detail. It is amazingly detailed.

  5. This might sound like a weird question, but I know nothing about painting and minis. Do you have to sand down any of the rough edges to make it easier to prime and paint?

  6. Dear Cyborg,
The cockpit and shin armour paint job is no mean task so don't be too hard on your mate,

  7. Dear Christian
You do not have to usually sand resin minis except where you cut (in the case of a Titan, saw) off sprues where the resin is injected.

What you do have to do is scrub the resin in something like washing up liquid - I use a toothbrush. This is to remove the 'release' grease placed on the inside off the mould. Paint will not stick to grease.

looking good and going along at a hell of a lick; are you using Araldite rapid or just a mask to get past your allergy to superglue?
looking forward to seeing it in the flesh sometime

  9. Dear Shaun
I use Araldite rapid for the load-bearing joints and UHU for the cosmetic bits.

  10. The legs are around 75% of construction, especially the pistons. I stuck the main carapace down to avoid painting the interior body.

A tip I learnt the hard way is to paint the cockpit before you attach it, as getting to the inside is a pain once it's on.

forgot to ask what guns did you get for it and how big a hole are my guys going to have to hide in to get away from them?

  13. Dear Gotthammer

I am going to have a go at painting the cockpit details before assembling the head and torso. If I bog it up tyhen I will cement the roofs on.

  14. John, just got mine back from commission artist. Blogged the insides and out if you need inspiration or ideas. Good luck fella, recommend pinning every joint - that torso weighs a lot and stresses the legs - the pistons keeping the leg shape will be under a lot of stress if ball joints etc not pinned. Enjoy.

  15. Dear Siph,
I have araldited the joints. Hopefully that will do.

  16. That's a hell of a lot of progress in such a short amount of time!

I must confess I've always had a fear of buying anything like this from Forgeworld - I hear that you often have to spend a period of time with the resin pieces in hot water bending them into shape - quite a terrifying prospect giving the cost! Is this something you encountered?
