Gallant British Tommy


Zzzzz asked for a scale comparison of the 1:48 Tamiya tank vs 28 ml models so here it it.

A gallant British Tommy takes on a Stug III with a mills bomb.

His VC was awarded posthumously.

    Scale looks good. A very gallant chap. Perhaps he has some cricket bowling skills that will help him get his grenade through that open hatch. :)

    I have been using 1/48th scale models with 28mm figs for a long time. I think they work great together..Here are some examples http://dspaintingblog.blogspot.com/search/label/1%2F48th%20Scale

    With all the great 1/56th scale stuff out now I may switch to that scale for my vehicles.

    Thanks for this, I have been painting up some Warlord 28mm for Bolt Action, and have seen some nice prices for 1/48th scale models on ebay and was wondering how they would work

    JTS has a pheonominally diverse collection of things and stuff; always good for comparisons, thank you John.

    As for the posthumous nature of Pte Fortune's award; perhaps his boot laces are undone and he trips and is run over ?

    I think hit would work if he bowled a googly to land on the gun mantlet and spin back into the hatch. Howzat!

    Slightly more seriously, the US army designed a hand grenade shaped like a baseball on the basis that every Amercian male could throw one. I don't think it worked.
