Da Giant Copta
Forge World's latest Orky release. I can see myself making one of these for my Orky Flying Circus. It strikes me that a Deffcopta could make the front and the rear could be scratchbuilt. Hmmm. Must cogitate (it's not illegal, honest).
I was on my way to post about this same thing, but I noticed your post in my blogroll. The concept is interesting to me, but I do not much like the execution. It does kind of look like they tacked a big rear end onto a Deffkopta and called it good.
I would rather see something more enclosed, especially in the cockpit area, but maybe also with some rails on the side of the troop platform. I do think you could come up with something just as neat as this with a bit of kitbashing and some plasticard.
Dear Chris Yes, what struck me was how easy this would be to mock up. The Forge World model is £60 but deffcoptas can be had for next to nothing on eBay. John
I was all excited when I saw a thumbnail of this but am not impressed with the design - I was hoping for something more Hind like with lots of cannon...
I'd actually had the thought of building one some time ago to transport a Dred under. This one is a bit underwhelming and really does look like a 'stretched' copta.
Hi John I'm not sure whats available in the 1/48th scale ranges probably expensive but there might be something cheap in the "toy racks" at poundland or somewhere similar that can be hacked about

ReplyDeleteDear Steve
ReplyDeleteIt is a little odd.
John
I imagined something with a design more akin to this old toy:

Also I've put up a review of IA8 on my blog.
Dear Gott
ReplyDeleteIt's beginning to look like a unanimous thumbs down for themodel.

A converted valkyrie can do the same job (transport boyz) with much more class
ReplyDeleteDear Anon
ReplyDeleteI think I will attempt a scratch build.

Hi John
ReplyDeleteI have to say the back end looks like a dark eldar raider "orkified" with chains and corrugated plasti card and of course the rotor on the top
dear Shaun
ReplyDeleteYah, I think a more chinooky look might be better.
